writer by heart. Runner by nature. Coach by passion.

Katharina at Tallinn Marathon

I’m Katharina. But I usually go by Katha or Kat(h).

Originally from Germany, I've found my home base in Tallinn, Estonia.

I started THE RUNNING KICK to share my love for running and sports, and to pass on my knowledge as a coach. Over the years, friends, family, and colleagues often came to me for tips, advice, or help with training plans.

In 2023, I decided to take the leap and make it official: I became a certified running coach, combining years of personal experience with professional knowledge.

When I’m not out running, I’m probably talking about it. Or you’ll find me at a music festival, writing poetry, travelling, or searching for new adventures. I also love cycling, weightlifting, swimming, skiing, basketball, and tennis. And I’m a big fan of triathlon, ski jumping, and biathlon.

Besides being a running coach, I run my own business and creative agency, Öökull Creative, and am the Head of Marketing at KULG (a running analytics tool).

Writer by heart.

I'm a seasoned writer and content marketer, writing and telling stories since early childhood. Writing has always been my therapy to express thoughts and release emotions. In my teenage years, I also got into poetry, which deepened my love for words. Today, I work as a content marketer at my own creative agency. I focus on creativity, originality, and sustainability, and aim to turn ideas into exciting content experiences that inspire, connect, and leave a lasting impact.

Runner by nature.

I've always been a runner. And it’s been my constant companion since my teenage years. To me, running is more than a just sport. It's a lifestyle. For me it represents freedom, but it also means connecting with my inner self and my body. I'm always running. I hardly ever stop. And I am always looking for new challenges. Whether it's reaching new goals, conquering new distances, or breaking personal records, I feel most alive when in motion.

Coach by passion.

I thrive when I share my love for sports, movement, and especially running. I want to empower my athletes to reach their full potential. But I also want to to equip them with the skills to plan and adapt their training independently. Through a holistic and fully personalised approach, I guide them to find joy in every step of their journey to becoming lifelong runners.

My Running story.

Have I always been a runner? The simple answer is: Yes!

I’ve always been that running kid that loved to run from A to B. Because I thought walking was boring.

When I was 15 or 16, I started endurance running. It became a natural part of my life. And I haven't stopped since.

During my running journey, I've been through the ups and downs. And yes, sometimes I learnt it the hard way. I trained too much, ran too fast, and did not stretch how I should. But my mistakes made me become a complete runner.

Today I take a holistic approach to running.

Running, cross-training like cycling or swimming, strength training, mobility, nutrition - they all go together.

For me, running isn't just a form of exercise or a hobby. It's part of my lifestyle. I love being active. And I'm always on the move.

Being active and living a healthy life shouldn't be a temporary thing or something you force yourself to do. It all starts with a change in your mindset.

Living a healthy lifestyle doesn't mean making sacrifices. Instead, it means adding quality, strength and joy to your life.

When exercise and activity become an integral part of your life, you don't have to force yourself to move. It happens naturally.

And that’s what I want to pass on to you!
