Cooling strategies for training in the heat

It's summer. The temperature is high. You want to train, but you're afraid that you won't be able to perform at your best because of the heat.

Here are some tricks to help you cool down before, during and after your training.

During your training:

  • Cold drinks, iced energy gels

  • Cold wrist sweatbands

  • Cooling headbands

  • Cap or sun hat, sunglasses

  • Cooling liquid to cool your clothes

  • Wind simulators for indoor training

Before and after your training:

  • Wet towel or ice pack on neck

  • Cold shower

  • Cold bath or ice bath

  • Standing on ice packs

  • If you have the possibility, go for a swim
